Hair Transplant Surgery can give fantastic results, but are expensive and time consuming. They all essentially involve the transfer of healthy hair roots from the sides and back of the head, which generally do not have receptors for DHT hormone, to the areas of hair loss.

1)Strip FUT (Follicular Unit Transplantation)

2)FUE (Follicular Unit Excision) previously known as Follicular Unit Extraction.

Above  two are the most commonly performed surgical procedures for Hair Loss.

Follicular Unit Excision is one of the two main types of Surgeries, which is regarded as a long lasting solution to Hair loss. FUE is a type of surgical hair transplant procedure which is  preferred by people suffering from hair loss. Unlike, FUT procedure which  leaves a long scar at the back of the head(new tricophytic closure method can leave a much less visible scar), FUE treatment only leaves multiple small rounded scars which can be easy covered by keeping hair slightly longer on the back and sides of the head. FUE has become the preferred choice by people and commonly described as a “Minimal Invasive Procedure” as there are no stitches involved and allows the patient the option of wearing their hair short after the procedure and get back to daily life as quickly as possible, usually after a week  with minimal discomfort.

Some clinics claim FUE is ‘a no scar technique, which is false.  FUE almost always leaves small round scars which, when performed correctly, can be hidden by slightly longer hairstyles. When performed improperly, FUE can result in noticeable hair thinning and can lead to obvious scarring.

How FUE is performed:

The FUE technique is carried out under local Anaesthesia to reduce discomfort.  Hairs are extracted from the back and sides of head of a patient by using a small micro punch, multiple small holes are made with great precision around the hair follicles, the root is then very carefully removed.  These hair follicles are now called grafts which are stored in a special synthetic solution to keep them safe and healthy. The grafts are then inserted back using sophisticated equipment and by making very small incisions in the area of hair loss.

Even though this is a long lasting solution to most of the problem, the results can still vary due to various reasons, for example, the patient’s history, extent of their hair loss and the experience of the Surgeon performing the procedure.  Some patients can experience baldness even after a Hair Transplant procedure.

Typically, a person can start seeing some prominent results on their scalp after 4 to 6 months of surgery, but usually can take up to 12 – 18 months for visible results.

DAY 0, before the surgery:

As for any surgical procedure, pre assessment is necessary. You have a consultation with our expert doctor, we recommend this is done face-to-face to fully access the degree and establish the cause of hair loss and then reach a mutually agreed plan of treatment.
Once all assessments have been completed, we can book a date for your treatment to start.

*please read our section of terms and condition before making any booking.

Your surgeon will introduce himself to you and show you the clinic room and explain how the procedure will be carried out.  Please note you will be asked  to verify your identity, therefore please bring ID along with you, as this may cause unnecessary delay to your treatment. There will also be  hair technician(s) throughout the procedure who will assist the surgeon when required. Our hair technicians are very friendly and highly qualified with many years of experience.

Stage One

You will be given a mild relaxant which also works as a sedative followed by local Anaesthesia.

Anaesthesia process is slightly uncomfortable for the first few minutes; the sensation has been described as very similar to that which is experienced when undergoing any dental procedure.

The procedure of giving Local Anaesthesia starts from the back of head then moving on to the sides of your head.

After numbing the back of head, the excision holes are made by the advanced micro punch around the hair follicles. These hair follicles called grafts are then carefully removed and stored in a special solution to keep them safe and healthy before placing them to the area of hair loss in the second stage.

A small break is taken, where the patient can sit up, walk around, eat or drink and use the bathroom if needed.

Stage Two

Anaesthesia process is repeated to the area of hair loss, usually the front and top of head.

The doctor makes the incisions for the recipient grafts. This is a very important step, where our specialist expert doctor works as an artist to make small holes at specific angles to create a design in order to make the best possible and natural looking hair line and at the same time giving our patients a good hair density.

The grafts are then placed in those small incisions by our team of highly skilled technicians under close supervision of the doctor.

FUE is a very clean procedure and one session can last a whole day (anywhere between 6-9 hours depending on the number of grafts required).

You can expect to be on your way home within 30 minutes after completion of the whole procedure.

We highly recommend you DO NOT DRIVE back home yourself after the procedure and make other arrangements, due to safety reasons.

A taxi service and London Underground Station is located within 5 minutes walking distance from our Clinic.

Follow up appointment is booked before discharge.

Follow up are usualy carried out at 2 weeks, 6 months and 12 months after the procedure.

Some precautions are always necessary after any surgical procedure.  FUE grafts need extra care and we always give you written instructions of how to look after your precious grafts over the next few days, after which the roots of the implanted hair settle deep in the skin.

It can take about 5-7 days for most of the redness and swelling to subside.

You will be able to contact the our team/doctor for any questions; before, during after your procedure.
